      6. Reference Material

      Objectives:
Understand how to critique case study presentations
Understand how to use highly mathematical sections of a paper or case study
Continue to work on incorporating case study lessons in student case studies
Study optimal fabrication of titanium metal composites case study
This week we continue the evaluation of Case studies by reviewing the case study to be handed out Monday on the fabrication of Titanium Matrix composites.

      Reading Assignment:
Case study handouts for this week and next

      Discussion Questions:
How can you evaluate a complex mathematical case study in a finite amount of time?
How can you step back and critique your own case study ?
How can you actively evaluate case study presentations by others?

      Lecture topics:

Monday Case study presentation by Han
      Wednesday Titanium Matrix composite case
      Friday Have a happy holiday!!!

      Week 13 Assignments:
If you aren't moving your case study into a convergence mode you could be setting yourself up for endterm stress and a possibly lower grade.

Second Draft Case Study  (Due 12/4/98)
Subject: Week 13 - Case Study 2nd Draft

      Critique Case Study  (Due 12/1/98)
      Subject: Week 13 - Critique
This case study is the most mathematical and technical of the semester. It is fully published on the web page. Keep your critique to one page and submit it by Tuesday. I will use the critiques as the basis of the discussion on Wednesday.  Case Study of Combustion Chamber Liner

Last week we had a presentation on artificial hips. To find out more on these types of subjects go to the orthopedics biomechanics lab at Harvard
