Homework 2
Introduction
Time to use faceposer and create a scene. This is an
INDIVIDUAL or PAIR assignment.
Task
Using faceposer and the associated tools, enhance your homework 1 solution
(or if you like, choose a different venue, such as the WEB building [Note - the latest version of the web building is probably the one with the latest date. Put the materials into the materials directory. ] or something else that interests you) with a scene as follows (note, if you dislike your hw1 solution, feel free to
borrow someone else's map or even just use the web102 map as you see fit):
- Write a script and use the www.celtx.com tool to get it formatted properly. The script should be for a joke or something politically funny. The joke must involve two people.
Try to make it funny and not simply "nerd humor" (if you just can't find a
good joke, do some web searching and see if you can find one that you think
is funny). Edit the dialog with the phonemes so it has realistic lip syncing.
Do not "borrow" the recorded jokes from existing comedians. (10 points) Note - you should hand in your script file (you can turn in your celtx project file or export as a script).
- Record the dialog (10 points)
- Create a scene and add the dialogue to the scene. (5 points)
- Add facial animation to the joke teller as they tell the joke. (5
points)
- Add facial animation to the joke listener. (5 points)
- Add physical animation to the teller (5 points)
- Make the listener laugh, or gesture or whatever in reaction to the joke.
(10 points)
- Make a movie of your scene like we did for hw1. Note - focus on
the joke and whatever else is new from hw1, don't bother with the long walk
through the classroom. Keep it short and focused. Again, make sure that you use the correct format for your video (720x480) and compress your file using either quicktime or one of the codecs on windows (such as divx). Feel free to add titles, sound or whatever else you want to make your joke movie complete (not required, but you may want to do it so you can add it to your portfolio).
Here is a zip of one of the utecoug pieces which includes the sound files and the scene file that you can use as a reference. Here is the map file for that piece. This is the pdf of the celtx version of the script (Lonny took my rough script and turned it into a real script) and here is the celtx project file for that script.
Bonus
- Finally, we will give up to 20 additional points to the 5 best designed,
more quality scenes (we will compare the scenes, choose the top 5 and then
allocate points).
Acceptance Tests
- Handin your script file (either an exported script or your celtx project file) and your movie file to the 2 directory (or use the web-based handin). Please name your files with your cade login name, so we can collect them ALL into a directory and easily show in class.
