Some really good points were brought up. Especially that some of the birds don't winter in North America. As to not seeing the green, this chart doesn't seem to have much overlap. Some of the other birds had more overlap on their charts.

The reason I would like to see a dotted outline for the projected regions is because a close examination shows that some color appears outside the solid outline on the starting frame. This indicates that the real regions don't have hard boundaries, so how can I compare areas? Pulling the Venn Diagrams into the chart (just West of Florida would work) would have helped clarify the areas involved. It seems like they wanted to use an area encoding on a chloropleth map, which just doesn't work.
